4th of July Parkway
The 4th is upon us, time to explode some stuff to remember what freedom is. It’s the only day forecast this week(end) to not have any rain happening, so I took a trip through Pisgah National Forest and connected to the Parkway a bit, stopping at a few of the overlooks to take some photos. I’m Not Dead! (But I did replace the steering head bearings)
The winter has been long but I finally arise from my slumber! Since buying the Trashwing one of the issues I’ve noticed with it is that the steering often feels “floaty” and the bike is overly-eager to dive into ruts in the road. Additionally, it always felt like it wanted to pull to the right,… Continue reading

Down to Florida!
I got to go on a cruise with my friends! Leaving from Port Canveral, where the space shuttle launches happen, I figured it would be a great time to finally take the Trashwing on it’s first properly long ride (in my time of owning it). The ride down was very nice! I took my time… Continue reading

After the falls is a gorgeous… Continue reading

These bikes have such a neat retro-future “speeder-bike” look without the front wheel/suspension: Next the forks were removed, and I had to disassemble them. Honda made a specialty tool… Continue reading

Replacing the Clutch
The clutch in these GL1500s is tough. It’s hard to kill them. So when I was trying to identify potential causes to the shifting issues I was having, I didn’t put the clutch itself very high on the list of things to be considered “the issue”. Still, at this point, I’ve rebuilt all the hydraulics,… Continue reading

Adding a GPS Unit
Garmin just released the Zumo XT2 and I figured it was a good time to finally add a dedicated GPS unit. I’m very impressed with it so far. My phone and Sena (helmet Bluetooth/speakers) both connect to the GPS unit and it acts as an intermediary, playing music or calls while also injecting directions when… Continue reading
